Vote!
Just a reminder- tomorrow is the Primary elections so go out and vote! I am a poll worker for Layton City and we have to be at the polls from 6am to 9pm. It makes for a long day when no one comes to vote. Plus this is the election that narrows the field down to the ones you can vote for in the general election in November and the person you may want may not make it through the Primaries without your vote! So, do your duty...and vote!

A Super Saturday...
Today started off with a trip to the Salt Lake Temple with Kyle, Han, Heather, Clint, Steve and myself. I love going to the temple and being there with family is even better. I am grateful for the knowledge I have that I can be with my family forever.
This evening Steve & I, Austin & his date Sage, and Heather & Clint headed down to Thanksgiving Point to the Jon Schmidt outdoor concert. We thought we arrived in plenty of time but it took so long to get to the parking and then the line was rediculously long that we were still standing in line when the concert was supposed to begin. I asked everyone to give me their best "I have to stand in this long line look."
This evening Steve & I, Austin & his date Sage, and Heather & Clint headed down to Thanksgiving Point to the Jon Schmidt outdoor concert. We thought we arrived in plenty of time but it took so long to get to the parking and then the line was rediculously long that we were still standing in line when the concert was supposed to begin. I asked everyone to give me their best "I have to stand in this long line look."And this is what I got...

I'm not sure what I was doing but I look like I am half dead. Anyway, we finally got in and found a spot- which wasn't an easy task because there were so many people there.
The guys and Sage all left to go fetch us some nourishment (desperately needed after standing in that line) and Heather and I kept our spots secure.
While we were waiting for things to begin Jon Schmidt appeared back stage which was right in front of us due to our lack of finding a better spot and I snatched a picture of him and his amazing cello player accompianist, Steve Nelson. I think Jon posed quite well for me ( He is the one in the middle)!
One of the first songs He played was "Waterfall" and as tradition would have it, when he plays that song, the waterfalls behind him all come on. It really is a beautiful spot for an outdoor concert!
This was our vantage point for the evening. I couldn't get a good shot of Steve and his Cello.
The whole concert was amazing! Jon played some of the old classics that he is known for as well as some of his new songs including "Love Story meets Viva La Vida". Due to copyright issues he can't publish that version yet so he also played another version "Love Story Meets Love Story." They are both awesome. He is not only an amazing piano player but he is quite funny, too and has some fun with the audience, which I love!
While we were enjoying his concert the moon came up over the waterfall and made such a beautiful romantic picture. I tried to capture it but wasn't very successful but trust me it was so cool!
It was an awesome evening, the weather was perfect and the entertainment was fantastic!
I am sad to see the summer coming to an end. There is nothing better than doing things like this in the evening on a summer's night.

The Best Kept Secret In Huntsville
Friday night the Metro Champs (also known as Clint and Vaughn) were playing up in Huntsville at the Texas Pride BBQ and being the avid supporters that we are, we decided to drive up to have some dinner and hear them play. Little did we know that we were in for a delightful culinary experience. The Texas Pride BBQ has only been open for the past three months so very few people even know about it.
They offer a variety of smoked meats with an assortment of BBQ sauces on the side. We decided to try the Texas sampler which is a plate of 4-5 meats and four side dishes so that we could give it all a try and we were not disappointed. It was delicious and more than enough for two. We actually shared ours with Heather and we were all full!
Their meats have a great smoke flavor and the sauces are great! I even liked their potato salad and I don't like potato salad! Han came with us because Kyle was working and she had this plate...
Steve and I visited with the owner after dinner out back where he has his smokers. The meat is smoked here every day. This really is an amazing little place. The grounds are very quaint and well kept up.
They even have these little buildings here and there that add to the whole experience. This one is right next to the smokers.
While we ate dinner we were entertained by the Metro Champs, who even played some Simon and Garfunkle (is that spelled right?) for us!
Heather wasn't feeling her best so Clint played a song just for her...He wrote it for her while they were dating. This is Clint serenading his sweetheart...
I just had to tip them .especially after reading the sign they had next to their tipping box!
Steve and I both highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for some really great smoked BBQ food. The drive to Huntsville is totally worth it. Oh, and did I forget to mention we had a pecan pie bar a la mode for desert that was to die for! You really have to check this place out!

Badminton anyone?
Heather and Clint decided to stop by Saturday for some hanging out with the Fam time. We went swimming but only stayed an hour cause it was cloudy and the water was a little cool. We then played some Canasta, had some dinner and headed outside for some not so serious badminton playing. The object was to see how many times we could hit it to each other without missing.
We were kind of just hitting around in a circle but spent more time laughing at everyone's dives for the shuttlecock than anything else. Some of us had some pretty good moves!
Of course the funniest things that happen never seem to make it on camera but trust me, there were some pretty funny moments and some awesome dives! We finally made it to 67( correction- 63) hits before missing...that is a new record for us and of course setting a new record deserved some happy dances.
Then we played a round with everyone on their knees which in and of itself can be quite funny but we took it one step further and played while lying on our stomachs! Anyone driving by had to wonder...
This place just opened in Layton and Heather had mentioned how good their italian ice and gelatas are. She was right! I had a tiki fruit shake-mmmm! Thanks for playing Heather and Clint!

A Day off for Austin
Layton High school was without power today so they sent all the kids home this morning just a few hours after they got there. I asked Austin to give me his best reaction to that news and this is what I got...

Happy Birthday Kyle!
We had celebrated Kyle's birthday last week but He and Han showed up this weekend so the celebration has a part 2. Sorry no pictures:(
After Kyle opened his gifts on Saturday from Han, we headed outside to play some intense badminton but alas it was a bit hot and it wasn't very long before we were off to the pool to cool off. Austin showed off his greatly improved swimming skills (Seriously, he is quite good and creamed his father in a race!) We had fun playing beach ball volleyball and keep away, where i seemed to be stuck in the middle a lot!
Han made Kyle a pumpkin pie which everyone who likes pumpkin pie enjoyed later back at the house. We also played Apples to Apples.
Thanks for spending part of your birthday with us Kyle!

Weekend News
This week was Clint and Heather's one year Anniversary and Kyle's Birthday follows so we got together on Sunday to celebrate both. First, Happy Anniversary Heather and Clint!. We had their wedding cake top in our freezer. After a year it still looked pretty good!
Kyle and Han gave them a book of Mad Libs which provided much laughter for the remainder of the evening.
I can't explain Clint's expression this time. After opening their gifts, it was Kyle's turn. Heather and Clint gave them "Quantum of Solice". Kyle is giving his best James Bond look.....

And believe it or not it still tasted good!
We gave them a gift card to Olive Garden. It appears that Heather is more excited about this than Clint but really Clint is trying to imitate the dogs face on the card.

I also got him his own hair cutting system so he doesn't have to come use mine anymore. He cuts his own hair and does a mighty fine job, too. We also bought him new sneakers and socks last week. I'd say he made out pretty good!
Kyle requested Thai Curry Chicken for his birthday dinner...my 1st time making it. It turned out pretty good but probably would have better if Han had made it. We ate dinner, unwrapped gifts, had wedding cake, then played Mad Lib and Loaded Questions. It was a fun evening! The best times I have are when my family is all together! Doesn't matter what we are doing but it is usually pretty fun!
On a side note, Austin comes home tonight after being in California for the last 8 weeks and I am so happy he is coming home. I have missed him this summer!
