I have been gone this past week to our stake girl's camp. The camp was up at Lyman Lake in the Uinta Mountains. It is a beautiful area as you can see from these pictures. This is the main lodge where we ate and had speakers. I forgot to get a picture of the cabins and the leaders' tent. Our theme was "Be an example of the believers." The first day was "Be Patriotic." We all got flag bandanas.Steve came up with us for the week. He manned the fire and helped with whatever we needed. The girl's really liked him. All the men that were up there sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic at a fireside the first night. The 1st day was also our time on the waterfront. It rained a good part of the time we were up there and this day ended up being the best for canoeing. It did start thundering and lightning when we were on the lake though and we made a beeline for the dock!
Couldn't resist taking this picture of Katee with her carrot stick fingers. Our girls chose to "Be Diligent" as their ward theme and wanted to be ninja turtles. They each got a turtle shirt, beanie, belt and sword to represent their armor. Each shirt had a turtle shell on the front and back and the beanies were teenage mutant ninja turtle faces though it is hard to see that in these pictures. Wednesday night was the fashion show where each ward showed what they had come up with for armor. Their craft today was making turtles out of play do. They came up with some cute ones!Wednesday was dutch oven day. We cooked tin foil lunches of potatoes, carrots, onions and beef. And dutch oven chicken and rice with corn on the cob for dinner. Both were delicious! I did the craft today, which was making hemp bracelets. I was too busy teaching and helping to take pics but the girls loved making the bracelets and kept making them in their spare time for the rest of camp. Our 4th year girls came back from their 2 day hike today. We cheered them on as they arrived...Savannah was the only 4th year from our ward. She was very excited to be back! She probably had 50 mosquito bites just on one shoulder. Did I mention the mosquitos were worse than I have ever seen? Wednesday night was skit night. The pics don't really show much so I'll skim over this part. Suffice it to say that our girls rocked with their skit about Mulan meeting the ninja turtles and helping them clean up their act.
Jean, Kaylie, Sabrina, Sierra and Sammie shown above, tried valiantly to catch our canoe (manned by myself, Breanna and Katee) but we left them in the dust or should I say our wake!
Dinner time! Everyone is always hungry at girl's camp. No fire the first night. We didn't have enough time. But we did sit around the camp and play Mafia.A few of us ( Katee ,Allison, Loraine and Steve) even manged to get some shut eye though I was not one of them.It rained off and on the first two days but poured on Thursday for the majority of the day. No one's tent was exempt from getting wet. We were lucky enough to get a cabin to sleep in on Thursday night so we stayed warm and dry for one night. It was a fun week and despite the weather everyone had a great time! There is so much that goes on at camp that I couldn't begin to blog about all of it but I loved being there with the girls and had tons of fun with them and with the leaders that were there...Good times!
There you are! I have missed you in the blog world! Looks like you had such a great week. Nice job for being a trooper in the rain. Love to you and Steve!
